Big Sur, California-It's better than you

"The place itself is so overwhelmingly bigger, greater, than anyone could hope to make it that it engenders a humility and reverence not frequently met with in Americans. There being nothing to improve on in the surroundings, the tendency is to set about improving oneself." --Henry Miller

As I drove up to my apartment after a trip to Big Sur I couldn't help but think how much time we spend in our little nooks when a whole majestic world sits, waiting to be seen.  Show me the Empire State building, the Taj Mahal, Hearst Castle(which I did see) and I will show you redwoods, waterfalls and undisturbed beaches.  I see man-made crap everyday, sometimes it's nice to get away from ourselves.  Next time you see a building pop up in a month think about that 350ft tall, 2000 year old redwood.  If man was capable of creating such a sophisticated, long lasting object I would say to hell with conservation.  The reason Big Sur makes you want to better yourself, is because it is better than you. Enjoy the pictures!
