Tip the Scales RIP: Mike Walter

A few months ago I had the pleasure of taking family photos for the Walter family.  At the time the father was terminally ill and wanted to take some family pictures for the last time.  I was extremely nervous before taking the photos because I wanted them to come out perfect for the father.  Perfection is something I have always striven for, but on this day I realized life and photography are not about that.  The journey of life as well as photography are filled with moments of blown out highlights, harsh shadows and out of focus points, but those imperfections make the journey interesting.  In the end everyone succumbs to entropy, it's whether or not you can accept this and see the beauty of it that really matters.  I recently received the news that the father had passed and more than the pictures, I hope he remembered the day when the chaos of getting a picture outweighed the chaos of cancer.
